NAi Publishers, Rotterdam, the Netherlands
NAi Publishers is the specialist in the publication of books about architecture, urban design, spatial planning, visual art, photography and design.
Our catalogue of about 50 new publications per annum is devised by our in-house editors as well as in collaboration with third parties, for example the Netherlands Architecture Institute, the Groninger Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Nederlands Fotomuseum, SKOR (Stichting Kunst en Openbare Ruimte - the Foundation for Art and Public Space), TU Delft and the Berlage Institute. Other occasional publishing partners include architecture bureaus, housing corporations and government departments.
Worldwide
Most of the titles from NAi Publishers are published in Dutch and English. This is to enable us to reach as large a public as possible, within and beyond the Netherlands. Our spring and fall catalogues are also available in Dutch and English and are distributed all over the world.
NAi Publishers has an extensive sales and distribution network both in the Netherlands and around the globe. We regularly work on co-productions with foreign publishers.
Publisher and Bookseller
NAi Publishers was founded more than a decade ago as the publications department of the Netherlands Architecture Institute, but soon established a distinctive and independent profile. The NAi Booksellers bookshop in the foyer of the Netherlands Architecture Institute is managed by NAi Publishers.
Our Target Groups
The target readership for NAi Publishers includes architects, planning professionals, artists and designers - professionally active or in training - as well as a growing number of readers among the general public. Our publications are distinctive for their relevance to the target groups and for their stimulating contribution to contemporary socio-cultural debate, thanks to their innovative and interdisciplinary character.
Quality
Quality goes without saying for NAi Publishers. Our books are the products of dynamic interchange between commissioner, author, publisher and designer. Many of our books have won awards. They regularly appear among the nominations and prize-winners in the Best Dutch Book Design awards, presented annually by the CPNB (Foundation for the Collective Promotion of the Dutch Book), and have also gained international recognition from the Stiftung Buchkunst in Leipzig in the Best World Book Design category.
